Trivia/Info

  • John Flansburgh in a 1998 press release: "[Creepy] was recorded mostly at home. This song is based on a couple of true stories, only one of which I am happy to say, happened to me."
  • Flansburgh introducing the song at a 1998 show:
This song is based on a true thing that happened to me in the state of Pennsylvania. For some reason I thought it would be more terrifying to make the state California, but the real life thing happened in Pennsylvania. We were hijacked by some crazy people and driven around. It was so fucked up it's impossible to explain.
  • Los Feliz and Silver Lake are both neighborhoods of Los Angeles.
  • The "Six million ways to die" sample comes from Cutty Ranks' "A Who Seh Me Dun".
  • The song's music video was made in 2010, and features footage from the 1955 film noir Kiss Me Deadly.
