Regarding talk pages

Hey, Quinn! :D Nice to see you around and back in the TMBG community--welcome to TMBW. The standard on wikis is to put new messages at the bottom of talk pages, by using the "Comment" button on the right side of a talk page to add one. Hi, I am posting here to let you know how much I enjoyed the fact that you made a userbox for 'favourite Linnell hair,' both because it's ridiculous and because it's actually really apt. OK, this may seem like a totally random question, but it seems like you would know a lot of random info about Linn'l, if not both Johns. So, do you know if the Johns read Stephen King, or even know a few of his books? Though, unfortunately, online translators will translate "excitante" in the context of a sentence as "exciting,". Though, perhaps because Portuguese is a Romance language and English is descended from Romance languages, the two are too similar. Sirhan

It implies that line is (at least somewhat) disputed on Problems With Liner Notes. Like the 'Id' vs. 'It' thing isn't put on misheard lyrics (or shouldn't be) because that is what They might actually be saying. And it kinda makes sense, or just as much sense as 'sir hand' does. Explain to me exactly how it "makes as much sense" as referring to a hand i.e. that thing that would be used to put a snail back into its shell? Especially considering the next line is "or is it ma'am?" And its section on that page says that SOME people hear it that way, not that it is correctly that way. If it were that correctly it would be under the "wrong lyrics" section. And it is listed as hand on the actual lyrics page with no note of it being "in dispute." But I'm really very curious about how it makes any sense at all, let alone "as much sense" as hand. --Self Called Nowhere 23:51, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

Oh, yeah, the liner notes are always completely correct and They or the record company have never changed the liner notes to something like 'wishnik' so as not scare or offend or whatever. Well, all sarcasm aside, so, you're saying it's a song to a hand? Hm, never thought about it that way. I saw the snail shell as a metaphor for a bad position, and that the song was entirely more metaphorical rather than literal. Some people can hear things differently without it meaning it's not correct. I'd never even heard that anyone heard it that way. And I don't believe I said that liner notes are always correct, but in a case where the thing very much sounds very much like the thing in the liner notes, and the "other thing it could be" MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE WHATSOEVER, I think it's a pretty safe bet that the liner notes are correct. I also definitely don't believe I said the song isn't metaphorical; I don't see how you're getting that out of what I said. You think the snail part is metaphorical but the idea of a hand isn't? And I'm still eagerly awaiting an explanation on exactly how an assassin fits into it, metaphorically or otherwise. --Self Called Nowhere 01:28, 29 October 2010 (UTC)

True. Though, it's not just one or to people, as I understand it, but many people. And it certainly sounds a lot like 'sirhan'. I suppose hand would work, the phrase seems odd, though. Perhaps the referencing of Sirhan Sirhan is that the story is of a man who is ruled by radical views. He begins to question his thinking, but looks back through history and sees radicals (e.g. Sirhan Sirhan), and feels he must punish himself for ever wavering in his views.
