I've been a fan for about two or three years now.
I play accordion and piano.
And I can sing.
Kinda.
Ummmm.
Yeah.
So.
Yeah.
Recently aquired: John Henry ON CASSETTE!... now if only I had a casette player.
How I Became A Fan
Sometimes I hear one of Their songs and am brought back to a distant memory of hearing it before. So for all I know I might have been lisening to Them subconsiencly for years.
But I know that my first recorded enocunter with the Giants was in grade 6. We had to find a song that tied in with the book "A Wrinkle In Time" and give reasons. At this time all I listened to was Jason Mraz and Weird Al. And I knew that I wouldnt get anywhere with those guys. So I went to a lyrics site and started looking at random bands. I hit T and found They Might Be Giants, this intriuged me so I delved deeper and picked Their self titled album. It ended up with me giving like 15 reasons in how the book ties in with Hide Away Folk Family, without me ever hearing the song.
But a strange change of events led to me actually listeing to the band. I listened heavily to Weird Al in grade 6 so I was extatic to see he was going to be on a TV station that I had. I live in Canada so we dont get too many stations that you Americanos get. But it watched it and ened up keeping watching Tech TV, and I kept watching during the merge with G4, so when i watched this thing about something called Homestar Runner I was weirded out and went to he site. I soon became a regular visitor. Then the video for Experimental Film came out as did the puppet jams, so I decided to check this band out. I bought the spine when it came out, then soon followed by buying ABC's and Users Guide. Now I buy songs off iTunes individualy.
