Living Clothespins is the twenty-fourth album by novelty band They Might Be Giants. It was released by Elektra Records on April 1, 2024.
Description[edit]
The album was released on cassette only, a move that shocked the entire nation. In an interview with Rolling Stone, John Flansburgh said:
This is the best fucking album we’ve ever made. Better than that Flood nonsense.
Operation 7319[edit]
The most interesting part of the album was the nine-hour-long closing track, the "Operation 7319" suite, composed entirely by John Linnell which features only vocals and accordion. According to Linnell, it's a prog-rock epic that if you even attempted to analyze and understand the lore, the world would explode. But some nerd did it anyways, and they say:
So, uhhhh, basically it is about uh, um, okay so first of all, Operation 7319, as a whole, um, ahh, uh, er, well, ok hang on. So, um, in uh Stage 1, they, um, hold on let me check my notes. Uhhh, I, uh, um, goddamn it, uhhh I forgot
The Living Clothespins Conspiracy[edit]
Shortly after its release, the admins of TMBW swiftly removed all traces of its existence from the wiki. Its album page was moved to the user page of its biggest fan, user HotelDetectiveInTheFuture. This caused massive uproar among fan, and led to a conspiracy around why the wiki admins want nothing to do with it. Theories emerged, the most plausible one being that the admins wanted the album for themselves.
When asked about this, HotelDetectiveInTheFuture said:
Get out of my house
