Trivia/Info
- John Flansburgh would describe this recording in an email accompanying its 2024 Instant Fan Club release:
This version of "I’m The Biggest One" is also our first effort with the song, and while some of the underlying drum programming might (might?) be the same as the "Don't Let's Start" b-side version [sic], the sonics are far more homegrown, and filled with that intangible, ineffable demo charm.
- This is quite different than the later re-recording for the (She Was A) Hotel Detective (EP). It is in a higher key and features a different drum program and different synths.
- The mix of the song that appears on the 1985 Demo Tape is slightly different from the other tapes. It's got a much wider stereo mix, and the accordion fade-out is removed.
- The synthesizer used for the riff is a Fairlight CMI, and its preset sound "dooo1".
