"Spooky" sound[edit]

The "spooky" sound at the end during the fade, is that a theremin, a synth, a musical saw, or someone singing falsetto? - uglinessman 01:47, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

That, and it is in the background during the 'free to come and go' lyric. I always assumed it was Flansburgh singing falsetto, but it very well may be a synth. It is not pitch perfect, which makes it seem more like his voice to me. It is not a singing saw or a theremin. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.105.152.150 (talk) 10:08, April 6, 2008

Outro[edit]

An anonymous user posited that the music playing during the outro could be based on or inspired by the song "Weary River" (from the film of the same name). If you listen to this version by Rudy Vallée, I think the similarity is definitely striking. But until we can get one of the band members to verify it, it's just speculation that doesn't yet belong on the song's main page... --MisterMe (talk) 08:27, 19 January 2017 (EST)
