Hmm. Well, I get the Smiths reference, but I'm not sure I really hear the connection to The Beatles' song. It's a heavy psychedelic song that bears a slight resemblance to the guitar work in the lead-up portions of "Flowers", but that's pretty much where the similarities end. Plus, even TMBG has acknowledged their love of the Beatles, so it's possible this could have been done in homage. And even considering all this stuff, you're talking about songs from three disparate eras--1960s, 1980s, and 1990s--and you're bound to have some sonic blips that make things sound somewhat alike.
