Talk:Mr. Me

Love this song[edit]

I love this song. My dad always sings "Yo yo yo" because he stole that part for one of his own songs and he think's I'm weird for liking They Might Be Giants. --Sparkling_Omelets 00:22, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

Crazy Eddie[edit]

what i don't get is how a company could have made a commercial featuring this song... in august 1987. lincoln didn't come out until more than a year later. so unless they were like, using some das recording or something?? something funny is going on here... --ant 21:31, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

The article says Crazy Eddie had previously approached them to write a jingle, so maybe they'd sent over a demo of the song before the negotiations broke down? --Octoflange 21:35, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
If anybody can find the Crazy Eddie ad in which both this song and Absolutely Bill's Mood were ripped-off, I would love to see it! Barrieau (talk) 18:07, 31 August 2014 (EDT)

Song title[edit]

This title is so uniquely TMBG, and (as you might guess from my username) I love it, but it got me wondering if there were ever any instances of it before the late 1980s. The only one I can find is a weepy country song by Mel Tillis called "Brand New Mr. Me", about a guy who drives by his ex-wife's house and sees her with a new spouse.

Since 1988, there are a couple of examples of the term, but I don't see any relevance to TMBG.

So, make of it what you will, but I think it's cool for such a term to exist primarily because of this band. --MisterMe (talk) 15:45, 2 May 2015 (EDT)

Mr Tuck speaks[edit]

I've never really thought this song about anything other than wordplay and melody. It's almost like a tongue twister. There's a bit of a Peter Piper Picked a Piece of Pickled Pepper going on. The band sound like they're having a lot of fun it's one of my favourite songs. (Mr Tuck) 16:34, November 13, 2015‎

Stalk of wheat[edit]

Do you people notices similarities between this and stalk of wheat?

They both feature the 5th and 6th tones prominently. --ColorOfInfinity (talk) 18:31, 28 June 2020 (EDT)
