Talk:Lie Still, Little Bottle
Is there a reference to the Who song "Mary Ann with the Shaky Hand" (with the lyric, "Guys come from every city just to shake her shaky hand")? ~ magbatz
- i might be willing to put money on that... it's not like tmbg has never referenced or covered the who before... -- 05:00, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
The Man Who Sailed Around His Little Bottle[edit]
Not as if the Giants need any more comparisons to XTC, but this one is fairly relevant. On 1986's Skylarking, XTC has a low-key song called "The Man Who Sailed Around His Soul". It starts out with a flute, bass line, and finger snaps, has a very lounge-lizard feel, and gets louder in the middle. Sound familiar? I can't help but imagine that with as much as these guys admire XTC, "LS,LB" has to be somewhat inspired by "TMWSAHS". Also, there's a jazzy flourish at the end of XTC's song that could have inspired the improv outro of "Spy". All just food for thought. --MisterMe (talk) 19:45, 20 December 2013 (EST)
