Oh, wow! I figured it could have been about some addiction thing, but I am not well-versed in alcoholic substances. Wikipedia is, though, and it's feeding me lies information about what you're saying being generally true. I try not to interpret this song for some reason, but I can accept that. I'm pretty sure we mostly know. Or if we don't we figure out from the "my throat is dry" line.
