Talk:Coraline

From This Might Be A Wiki

Does anyone know if there will be a soundtrack for the movie?

It's never been officially confirmed. But, i would guess that if you get a big name band like TMBG to create several new songs for the movie, that they will put them out on a soundtrack. --Duke33 18:26, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
slightly off topic, but i am guessing there will be. about 8 months ago i went on a tour of laika, and the tour guide played us two songs from the movie, and mentioned that these weren't going to be the exact versions that would be in the movie. they sounded pretty complete, so although i suppose they could have just been demos, it's also possible that these were soundtrack versions. --ant 15:21, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

Stephen Merritt![edit]

I was checking out the website of The Magnetic Fields, and I saw this on their news feed, from May:

The theatrical adaptation of Neil Gaiman's "Coraline," with music and lyrics by Stephin Merritt and book by David Greenspan, will have its world premiere at New York's Lucille Lortel Theatre Theater from May 6 to June 20, 2009.

So this means it's not just The Giants contributing to the movie (and soundtrack?). We have the friggin' Magnetic Fields. And we also have dates! ~ magbatz 03:50, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

"I remember hearing about that, but I think he's only doing the music for the play." is what I wrote before I realized the confusion. This is a "theatrical" adaptation as in "Theatre Theater" kind of theater. A play, if you will. It is a musical. Here is a link -> [1]. --badqueso 05:49, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
Oh, hey. That makes sense. ~ magbatz 15:14, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

John Linnell singing?[edit]

You know the song mentioned in the articles where the Other Father sings while playing piano? Listening to the song, I would have sworn on every Giants album I have that it was John Linnell singing, had I not read it was John Hodgman in the article. Is it absolutely confirmed that Hodgman is Other Fathers's singing voice? Are my ears just not fine-tuned enough to know when it's not John Linnell singing? 68.88.207.48 01:19, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

It was in fact determined that was John Linnell, your ears are working fine. --Luke 01:45, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
In an interview with Hodgman he talks about how both he and Linnell did takes of the song, and that as far as he knows they're keeping Linnell's take in the movie. --MichelleMaBelle 03:59, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
