Talk:1983 Demo Tape
From This Might Be A Wiki
Is there a reason the Road Movie To Berlin demo isn't on this page?
That was the DAS version. --Dunklekuh81

We don't have any proof that an official 1983 demo tape exists. All this page does is list the songs that occur in the second half of Podcast 32A. We could just link to those songs through the podcast page. Or redirect this page to Podcast 32A. -- Jason DeLima - ♥! - 22:38, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
- I agree. Until one of you breaks into Flansy's apartment and finds it, of course. -Apollo. 22:39, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
- this was made (after some deliberation) on the basis of flans's statement from the podcast "these are from our 1983 demo cassette." (something like that, i don't remember what it was exactly). it's certainly not "official" in the sense that they gave copies to anyone, but it's fairly certain that they exist as part of a whole. -- 22:44, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
- Antbant, go on the Podcast 32A page, press Command+F, type in "cassette", tell me what you find. How do we even know if it's a tape? It could be on master recordings or 8 tracks for all we know. The words "their 1983 demo" can mean anything. Doesn't necessarily mean a tape. -- Jason DeLima - ♥! - 22:47, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
- my point is that they don't say "here are some demos from 1983", they say "1983 demo" like it's a thing, an entity. -- 22:54, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
- I'm going to side with Ant on this one--we have no reason to doubt the tape's existence, and we don't need concrete, physical evidence. TMBG has been known to go through old cassettes and recycle the material via Unlimited, the Podcast, or free downloads. Here are five demos, all of consistent quality, which implies that they most likely originate from the same source. The order is up for debate and only based on 32A, but the 1983 Demo Tape itself seems more than likely. -CapitalQ ♫ talk ♪ 23:01, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
