In a 1990 interview with the Quad and a 2018 interview on the WTF podcast with Marc Maron, John Flansburgh mentioned that the band was asked by T.T. The Bear's management to never return to the venue after the audience chose not to buy any drinks during the band's performance, with Flansburgh stating that T.T.'s only sold "one beer". Despite this, the band would return to perform at the venue a year and a half later.
