Trivia/Info

  • This is a cover of The Skatalites recording of the theme song to the 1960's TV series Dr. Kildare.
  • Flansburgh wrote the lyrics to fit the existing ska tune. Official lyrics exist for the original theme song, but they have no relation to Flansburgh's lyrics.
  • The song was re-recorded and extended for Unsupervised. Referring to this original version of the song, Flansburgh said, "The melody came from a ska tape I bought without any publishing credit. I recorded a MIDI version of it for the Mono Puff Hello CD Of The Month Club and added the lyrics."[1]
  • This ska tape is likely the 1980 compilation More Intensified! Volume 2, Original Ska 1963-67. [2] That tape lacks credits, so the music is credited to "Unknown" on the Mono Puff EP.
  • The Skatalites' original recording was used as intro music at Mono Puff shows at least once.
  • The song ends with a sample of They Might Be Giants playing Ondine live in 1993.
