[edit] TMBG and Lemita
Well, I distinctly remember watching Tiny Toons as a little kid. I knew all the words to the themesong (well, almost all, I'd mumble the stuff I wasn't sure of), and would watch it constantly. I also distinctly remember the music episode... but never the TMBG songs.
Years later, I heard Courage on Cartoon Network (I was, and still am, a big Cartoon Cartoon fan). I remember saying to my brother, "It's by They Might Be Giants... weird name, huh?"
So, about two years passed, and I heard my friend singing Experimental Film at lunch. I asked her who it was by, and she replied, "They Might Be Giants." I asked if they did anything for Cartoon Network, and she gave me this weird look. ^_~
It's about a year after that, and my other friend tells me about some website, Homestarrunner.com. I was hooked after watching a few SB Emails and 'toons. I decided to click on the short 'toon titled Experimental Film. I immidiatlly recognized the song from my friend!
Later on, I joined the H*R wiki, and found TMBW. I found a load of songs from here (Thank you song favorites list!), and recognized the Particle Man Tiny Toons video after watching it. Now I know almost all the songs from owning a bunch of CDs!
Hey-- I knew TMBG music since I was really young and never knew it!
My TMBG prefrences? I'd say I started to lean more toward Linnell's songs when I first heard them, but I like them all now. =) Have a spiffy little favorite song list down the page a little bit, so you can check that out if you want. I called Dial-A-Song, and my story's on the discussion of the aforementioned page. I think the accordion is pretty cool (especially in TMBG stuff!) and I have one. I still don't know how to play it. T_T
Keep on listening to those Super Giant guys! ^_^ -Lemita
[edit] Fun Facts?
- I transcribed President's Daughter, Apple Juice Blues, and Everybody Knows It for the H*R wiki.
- I'm MrsCommanderson on the H*R wiki. Anyone notice the Teen Girl Squad reference?
- Other bands I like:
- "Weird Al" Yankovic (went to one of his concerts, have listened to his stuff since I was a kid)
- R.E.M. (who doesn't?)
- Ok Go (Kind of grew out of them, but still fun and pop-ish nonetheless)
- Counting Crows (have listened to them since I was a kid too, since they're my mom's favorite band. I do like them a lot)
- Ben Folds Five, Ben Folds as a solo artist (I wish I could play piano like him. Favorite album is "Whatever and Ever Amen".)
- Weezer (Oh man, "The Red Album" is seriously awesome. "Pork and Beans" reminds me of the good old days with "Buddy Holly.")
- TMBG Related things I laugh at a lot:
