Talk:Join Us (Four Advance Tracks)

From This Might Be A Wiki

Merge Into Main Article[edit]

What would you all think about merging this into the main "Join Us" article? I'm kind of torn on it. From talking to the band's management, they are saying that this preview will be titled "Join Us", and it's not technically a separate EP. So, i don't know if we should merge this in, or keep it separate. Thoughts? --Duke33 21:13, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

I think you should merge the two seeing as it's really just a bit of the album they're releasing rather than a whole new EP. PuppetToupee 21:26, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
I think it should stay a separate page. It's a sampler of sorts, even if it is purely digital. -- DidgeGuy (आ ज) 21:43, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
I agree with DidgeGuy.--Propman 22:23, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
I think it would be better to merge the pages, because it seems like it's not really an EP, just some of the songs from the album. What gets me is the bit on the page about completing the album: it's not like you're buying a totally different set of mp3s/cover art (I guess there could be different art, but that can be discussed later)/whatever, it's just that you're getting four tracks earlier than normal. The distinction is further diminished by the lack of physical release. I know TMBG have never limited themselves to the physical world (ie long tall weekend), but if it wasn't important/different enough for a CD, I don't think it warrants a page so much as a section on the album page. -Apollo (colloquia!) 23:08, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
My opinion on the matter (as if anyone cared): If we don't merge, we should change it from an EP to a sampler, because that's what it is. I also think merging would be fine, with a separate heading with tracklisting and info about the preview. Just my 2 cents. --AGR 23:12, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
If there's still contention and confusion closer to 4/26, I think a good way to decide would be whether the sampler has its own art. Also, for what it's worth, I think the fact that They chose those 4 particular songs from the album is important enough to document...... and on their song pages the "albums" list seems like the sensible place to put it........ ~ magbatz 03:46, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

Name Change?[edit]

I know we don't have a full consensus on what to do with this, so i say we just leave it as a separate page for now. One other question: Should we re-title this article to "Join Us (Four Advance Tracks)" or something like that? --Duke33 14:02, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

We should wait a month and a half and see. --AGR 00:38, 16 March 2011 (UTC)
From the people i've talked to, when it's going to be released, it will be just titled "Join Us" on iTunes. And then i think it'll be replaced with the full album when that's released in July. --Duke33 14:31, 19 March 2011 (UTC)

Linnell/Flans song distribution and possible Friday release date on Amazon?[edit]

so, it appears that the preview will have 1 Linnell song and 3 Flans songs. these four songs also appear to be the first 4 tracks on the upcoming album. I like Flans's contributions from what I hear on the Amazon 30 second previews so far. the pages on Amazon list a release date of April 22, which would be earlier than the iTunes release date of April 26. will the release date on Amazon be changed or will Operator Dash release the Preview to Instant Fanclub members "early" on Friday the 22nd? --Nosaj56 13:25, 20 April 2011 (UTC)

now I see a April 26th release date on Amazon all the way to the right on each download page. we'll see... --Nosaj56 13:37, 20 April 2011 (UTC)
It actually says the original release date was the 22nd and the current release date is the 26th, like maybe the date got changed at some point. Or Amazon just screwed something up, which, given the completely messed up state of the track listings, is what my bet would be. Either way, I don't think we are getting those songs until Tuesday.--BlueCanary 17:07, 20 April 2011 (UTC)

Possible early release for 2 songs on iTunes UK[edit]

Old Pine Box and Cloisonné appear to be available for purchase early on the UK iTunes store. I hope I'm not the boy who cried wolf here. anyone willing to take the plunge? --Nosaj56 01:17, 25 April 2011 (UTC)

iTunes-only > digital-only?[edit]

Since the tracks are on Amazon, shouldn't it be changed from iTunes-only to digital-only? -Joltman 14:14, 25 April 2011 (UTC)

name again[edit]

  • join us
  • join us ep
  • join us preview
  • join us (four advance tracks)

which one? i think number 4, it's on the artwork. AGR 03:29, 26 April 2011 (UTC)

iTunes booklet[edit]

Did anyone buy the full release from iTunes? I'm wondering if the booklet is specific to the EP, or if it's the booklet for the full album -Joltman 17:50, 26 April 2011 (UTC)

Just for the EP. -DruClotwo

Australia?[edit]

Does anyone know (or know who to ask) if this is going to be released on the Australian iTunes store? Currently there's an "Old Pine Box Single", but unsurprisingly the only track on it is Old Pine Box. - pat 00:57, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

It's not looking good at the moment, perhaps only the album will be released. Personally, I'd just purchase it from TMBG's store, same price, and you get the extra choice of FLAC for the same price. Also, Old Pine Box is a pretty rad song to be released as a single.--JustinBoy 05:03, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

title, again[edit]
