Talk:Penguine
From This Might Be A Wiki
Why does it say that this was first played in 1969? Is it my browser or has the wiki gone Freudian? -Apollo (moo) 23:40, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
- it's an error, because we don't actually know the date it was first played, just that it was sometime in august 1982. i'm not sure why exactly it says 1969 but it's related to 1.1.1970 being the beginning of the Unix epoch. -- 23:45, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
- Haha! It's like this was first performed when Linnell was 10 and Flansy was 9! -- Buzzmusic100 ("Keep your voice down...")
(e)?
Is it "Penguin" or "Penguine"? Flans said Penguine on Twitter, "Cecil" said it in his monologue, and it's pronounced that way in the song. ~ veggieman 19:55, 17 May 2011 (EDT)
- I don't think a single instance of it being spelled that way is enough to go by—Flans could have been using a phonetic spelling non-seriously, and it's even possible that it's a typo (it's not like flans has never misspelled anything). It's called "Penguin" in the mailing list update, after all. Additionally, I don't think the pronunciation can be used as a rule, here. I'm not necessarily saying that the title doesn't have an "e" at the end, I just don't think there's enough hard evidence yet. It's not something that would surprise me, but at the same time it seems a bit silly. - Apollo (colloquia!) 20:53, 17 May 2011 (EDT)
- Oh, I didn't mean to imply that you had a particular opinion, I was just expressing my own. - Apollo (colloquia!) 21:00, 17 May 2011 (EDT)
