Talk:If Day For Winnipeg

From This Might Be A Wiki

Which day?

I would really like to know when the lyrics to this song were written. I mean the date on the calendar. --Nehushtan (talk) 18:50, 4 October 2021 (EDT)

Ok, looks like it was written long before Jan 6, 2021. --Nehushtan (talk) 08:27, 28 November 2021 (EST)

Maybe the last single?

this one also has an I in the first word as the first letter, who knows. --⇂⇂↋ suᴉɥsuǝZ ʎɯɯᴉᒋ (talk) 12:12, 26 October 2021 (EDT)

Starts well but

Musically this starts really strong with lovely synth from Linnell. But Flans loses it by the time he gets to the awkward chorus. From then on there are a few flashy changes to disguise that they've run out of ideas. Lyrically it's a bit showy but that would matter less if Flans had not left him too much to do much vocally. Singing at the top end of his range, it's a struggle (reminiscent of Black Ops) and again with a strong female singer something could have been salvaged. I'm a big believer in never recording a lyric that's beyond you to sing live. Lyrically it's too clever clever and as is the risk with post modern songs, style triumphs over emotional meaning. Possible Quote

The opening notes sound a lot like the "be kind to your web-footed friends" melody from the Sousa march Stars And Stripes Forever, but comically demented. I think it's deliberate and adds some extra snark to the song's message.--Nehushtan (talk) 08:38, 28 November 2021 (EST)
