Banana Splits reference?

My girlfriend and I were listening to How Can I Sing Like A Girl? not too long ago, and she noticed a possible Banana Splits reference. "Freak flag" is mentioned in a Banana Splits song, but I can't find the lyrics anywhere online. I can't even think of the song name right now. I'm hoping someone else will pick up on this. Otherwise, I can probably get the songname and lyrics within a week. -tomthefirst

Freak flag is a fairly popular term, so it was most likely not a direct reference. -CapitalQtalk ♪ 16:23, 20 Mar 2006 (CST)

'?' at the end

Should this page be moved so it would be titled "How Can I Sing Like A Girl?" even though I swore I moved a bunch of them to their new "__?" names a couple months ago, but I could've just missed this one. ~ magbatz

Longest song?

Out of all TMBG songs (excluding medleys), is this the longest (apart from Fingertips)?

They Got Lost is longer. --WhatIsThatThing 18:29, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Someday...

I'm going to make a Freak Flag parade. Everyone in it will be carrying freak flags, and it's gonna be awesome. -User:Flansfan

Does anybody else think…

...that this song's intro is way cooler than it has any right to be? According to the trivia, it was the subject of extensive pre-production, which seems to have been well worth it. Wow. So cool. Barrieau (talk) 10:45, 16 October 2014 (EDT)

Curious: Did they ever perform this close to the studio recording?

One of the things I love about this song is how different it is when they perform it live vs. the studio recording. Knowing there are videos on YouTube depicting both Johns performing with just vocals and accordion to promote Factory Showroom, it pretty much reassures that the band prefers playing it that way. And reading up on the production work that went into it makes me enjoy it as much as the person who asked the question on their Tumblr.

But I've always wondered if any live performances were close to the studio album's version, with the guitar solo and the repeated chorus at the end. I've only heard/seen it played with just the duet, three-man piece during Stormy Night, or full band (which they did when I saw them live), and no matter what it's the shorter version. Not complaining, of course. Just curious.

Chances are they probably did perform it similar to the album at shows that occurred before I was born, so maybe the older/long-time fans could confirm? -Charlie5L
