- How does Now Is Strange qualify as "funny but sad"? I don't see anything particularly sad about it.
Seems to me that Why Must I Be Sad? should be here. Maybe it's just me, but I find the lines "No more Mister Nice Guy / I love the dead" to be somewhat funny. And obviously the rest of it is sad.. -Fwahobadagadz 00:31, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
Anyone else feel the explanations on these songs are just way too personal? I mean, I know we aren't wikipedia, but we should be closer to that than someone's personal diary. I am referring to Montana and such.--Fasterthanyou 00:57, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

My Man
I advocate removing My Man from this list. Although the analogies and imagery might be considered interesting, I don't think anything is particularly funny about it. It is certainly less upbeat than Destination Moon, which is also not included here. But as a lot of this is subjective, I'd like to know what others think about it. - in the interest of avoiding an edit war: "my man" is about a paralysed person (which is, you know, generally regarded as sad), and not only is it quite upbeat, it is also pretty self-referential ("may i direct your attention to the following simile" was definitely intentionally amusing). and then of course "destination moon" is all over-confident and silly and ridiculous, till you get to the end and realise it's actually kinda sad. which, you know, is the point of this theme. also, i think some of these belong in a "briefly mentioned" (or something?) such as "narrow your eyes", which is a fairly sad song overall, but with a few (bitter) bits of humour ("they say love is blind; i don't think you're blind"). and it's silly to have...only "central theme", when there's nothing else. so, uh, stuff. -Apollo (colloquia!) 01:16, 7 October 2012 (EDT)

- As I said, it's somewhat subjective, which is why I started the discussion about it - not an edit war over it :-) I personally find My Man to be melancholy in sound (isn't it in a minor key? - not that that's the be all end all of a sad song, of course); your mileage may vary. Destination Moon sounds very upbeat to me, and has a stronger sense of irony about it. In any event, there's no need for edit wars, just civil discussion. If we three are the only ones debating this, it would appear that leaving it in would be best. -CJSF 08:16, 8 October 2012 (EDT)
