Beautiful song.

Doesn't matter that they didn't re-record it. Kinda like the dial-a-song Ant, it's just better this way.

Live Version

i wanna know why there is a live version of this on the CD... i saw TMBG in Portland and they didnt play this, and it doesnt have a live recording on the disc anyone know why?

It's a soundcheck recording on the disc, and I suppose TMBG felt it was good enough that a studio version wasn't needed. -CapitalQtalk ♪ 17:28, 20 Apr 2006 (CDT)
I can understand that there is no studio version becuase They thought that the soundcheck version was ok, but why is there no live version? -- Gannabel 28 Mar 07

That depends. Were the songs only written after the Giants performed and left? Also, is it just me, or is the ri in river of "French Broad River" not pronounced? I first thought it was saying "French Brudder".

Yeah, I always heard something like "French brother". -CapitalQtalk ♪ 17:28, 20 Apr 2006 (CDT)
No, they say "river", but it's sung faster than the rest of that line. Listen closely for it and you can hear it. - 22:22, 29 Sept 2006 (CST)
I've never had problems heraing 'French Broad River'. - Gannabel 28 Mar 07

Peel

The poor guy with the orange peel head in the video reminds me of M. C. Escher's "Peeled Faces" (see it here). --MisterMe (talk) 16:57, 12 June 2013 (EDT)

Rolling Stones on the brain

Just a few days after their visit to Charlottesville (Starr Hill Music Hall) - where Linnell mimicked Mick Jagger's "Beast of Burden" vocals - here at Asheville he de-emotes the opening line of Sympathy for the Devil... the way he dissected the shock from Allen Ginsberg's Howl ten years earlier. --Nehushtan (talk) 01:38, 4 June 2021 (EDT)
