Talk:Aaa
At the last real John!
Aaa is my favourite Linnell song on the album. Full of humour, he sounds like he's having fun and it sounds like They Might Be Giants at their best: i.e. the same but different... oh and of course effortless. However, this doesn't deflect from the fact that this is the first album that Linnell's been outperformed by Flans for much of it. (Mr Tuck)
Secretly sad and sophisticated
I love this song so, so much (along with almost every single other one of John's songs on this album). I was excited about it just from the title and it did not disappoint. It's so rockin' (by his standards--maybe not quite up to the bar set by Flans), and it's just so silly and fun.
But I think one of the most interesting things about it is the part that isn't silly--the "How's it going, baby?" section. I think that part is actually a very insightful commentary on the fact that sometimes something like love can be every bit as terrifying as stereotypical horror/thriller tropes.
He does this all the time--he throws something that's actually quite dark into something that's otherwise silly, and that makes it dark in a way it wouldn't have been if the whole thing had been dark. It's a companion to his cheerful upbeat music/heartbreaking lyrics thing, and I think it's actually quite brilliant. --Self Called Nowhere (talk) 13:41, 22 April 2015 (EDT)
Strangely apropos
I'm playing through Dead Space 2 at the moment and this song going through my head was actually kind of fitting.--Pittsburghmuggle (talk) 19:08, 22 April 2015 (EDT)
Sausages
Trust me, Mr. Linnell. You do not want to know how sausages are made. Aaa!
