From a Disney Newsletter: "Watch for the follow-up release to No!, their successful kids' album. coming this fall exclusively from Disney Records."

"TMBG and Walt Disney Records are pleased to announce an exclusive partnership to produce original children's and family records, read-along products, and DVDs. Their first project, an original DVD and CD of alphabet songs, is slated for release this fall."

July 12 interview, John Linnell: "We are doing this one other thing which will be out, I think, in the beginning of next year. It's actually a fairly major thing which is a Disney project that will teach kids, or theoretically will teach kids, about the alphabet. It?s a bunch of songs about the alphabet with videos. It's a DVD and it has cartoons and live video puppets, things like that that goes along with these many, many songs that John and I have written about the alphabet. I can't believe how many songs we could actually bring ourselves to write about the alphabet, but it's a lot. That'll be a good thing. It's almost an hour's worth of programming on a DVD. If you have a four-year-old or if you just want a refresher course on the alphabet, it's one to pick up." [1]

From the Sept. 3 email newsletter: "We are also putting the finishing touches on a full length DVD for kids called "Here Come The ABCs." There is 60 minutes of new stuff. The DVD is mostly animated (including great stuff from Colour Movie- the people who did the title sequence to "Gigantic")- as well as brilliant work by the Chopping Block on a couple of animations. Also included are some live studio performances of songs from No! and new tracks performed by the Deeply Felt Puppet Theater. The DVD will be out this winter, released by our label Idlewild in conjunction with Disney Sound (any of you Disney-phobes out there need not fret- we had 100% creative control over this entire project) but we don't know if it will make an Xmas release. Look for previews coming up at http://www.giantkid.net in the coming months. "

Press release: "Disney Sound's first release will be They Might Be Giants' Here Come the ABCs in DVD and CD formats in February of 2005. The DVD contains over 60 minutes of new music and includes animated sequences, puppets and live performance, all designed to help kids understand the alphabet.

"According to John Flansburgh, "Creating the Here Come the ABC's was an ideal scenario for us. Disney Sound gave us complete creative control on both the music and the visual components of the disc. John and I put together our visual team from many artists within our circle of creative friends. Nothing was done by committee. There were no conference calls with strangers, no pesky consultants. I think that creative integrity shows up in the vibrancy of the DVD. I have to give props to Disney Sound for letting us be our natural selves. They are doing things in a new and very organic way." [2]

Annimation Insider: "'Here Come the ABCs' premiere MONDAY, JANUARY 3 (8:25 a.m., ET/PT) during the learning-based programming block, Playhouse Disney on Disney Channel. The music videos will air at varying intervals during Playhouse Disney (weekdays, 6:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. and weekends 6:00-10:30 a.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel.' [3]
