Talk:Monikers

From This Might Be A Wiki

John "Abzug" Flansburgh

Where do you suppose Flans got the nickname Abzug? The first thing I thought of when I heard the word "Abzug" was this song. - Alex "ALXXMaXX" H.

"Abzug" is a German word -- It means "departure". --Duke33 00:29, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

Last names

Do "Flansburgh" and "Linnell" really count as monikers if they're just their last names? --ColorOfInfinity (talk) 22:22, 29 July 2022 (EDT)

Yes, because we often call them those in place of their first names. --FloridaFlamingoGirl (talk) 20:07, 29 July 2022 (PST)

Page overhaul

Considering doing some cleanup on this page--organizing each section by category (nicknames vs. pseudonyms/aliases vs. stage banter epithets vs. famous/common misnomers) and adding more thorough citations. Would try to preserve the silly fun factor, though; I just love the use of pseudonyms and situational names and wish this page was maintained in a way that was more useful. --Bluef00t (talk) 16:04, 1 March 2025 (EST)

I definitely think we should distinguish between fan monikers and official. TitanicFog (talk) 16:12, 1 March 2025 (EST)
