- This was the first song on Dial-A-Song in 2018.
- Video created by Ajax Digital Design, who also produced the video for "Rowboat Mayor".
- The lyrics for this song were taken from an unused recording[1] from the 2015 iteration of Dial-A-Song, called "Completelier Blues". John Flansburgh confirmed that he liked the lyrics, but he "didn't like the way the song ended up".[2] He also admitted, "This song isn't as good as the lyrics. I want to hold on to it and write a better song to it."[3] Ultimately, that effort resulted in "All Time What". Flansburgh has indicated the band does not intend to release "Completelier Blues".[4]
- While many vehicles have been nicknamed "doodlebug", the song is likely referencing a Volkswagen Beetle.
- The word "stultify" means "cause to lose enthusiasm and initiative, especially as a result of a tedious or restrictive routine" or "make or cause to be foolish."
