From This Might Be A Wiki

i thought it would be cool if the wiki also had harmonica tabs... although the harmonica is somewhat more of a self-explanatory instrument than some others, tabs can still be useful.

so, for the time being, i'll post them here as i create them, until there are enough to warrant a Harmonica Tab: namespace.

note: since the majority of folks don't have chromatics, i'll try to limit myself to songs that be done on a standard 10-hole diatonic. (key-dependent of course). if there is actually some sort of interest, i could create tabs for harmonic- and/or natural-layout chromatics (key of C, as non-C chromatics are rare).

James K. Polk

v1.0

For standard diatonic in the key of C.

3 4 -4 5 -5 6
In 1844, the Democrats were split
3 4 -4 5 -5 6
The three nominees for the presidential candidate
3 4 -4 5 -5 5 -5 5 -6 -4
Were Martin Van Buren, a former president and an abolitionist
5 -5 6 -6 -4
James Buchanan, a moderate
5 -5 6 -6 -7 7 -8
Lewis Cass, a general and expansionist
-5 5 -5 6 -6 7
From Nashville came a dark horse riding up
-6 -7 7 -7 -6 6 -5 5 -4 4
He was James K. Polk, Napoleon of the Stump

4 -4 5 -5 6
Austere, severe, he held few people dear
4 -4 5 -5 6
His oratory filled his foes with fear
4 -4
The factions soon agreed:
-4 5 -5
"He's just the man we need
-5 6 -6 -4
To bring about victory,
-5 5 -5 6 -6 -4
Fulfill our manifest destiny,
5 -5 6 -6 -7 7 -8
And annex the land the Mexicans command"
7 5 -5 6 -6 -7
And when the poll was cast, the winner was

Mister James K. Polk, Napoleon of the Stump

3 4 -4 5 -5 6
In four short years he met his every goal
3 4 -4 5 -5 6
He seized the whole southwest from Mexico
3 4 -4
Made sure the tariffs fell
-4 5 -5 6 -6 -4
And made the English sell the Oregon territory
-5 5 -5 6 -6 -4
He built an independent treasury
5 -5 6 -6 -7 7 -8
Having done all this he sought no second term
7 5 -5 6 -6 -7
But precious few have mourned the passing of

Mister James K. Polk, our eleventh president

Young Hickory, Napoleon of the Stump

Your Own Worst Enemy

v1β

For standard diatonic in the key of C.

7 -7 -6 6
It's your own worst enemy
7 -7 -6 6 -5
Ringing the bell on the door
5 -4 4 -4 5 -5 6 -6 -7 7
And the person inside says nobody's home
-7 -6 6 -6 5 -5 6 -4 5 -4
So your own worst enemy peeks inside
4 5 4 5 4 4 5 4 5 -4
And sees you softly weeping as some music fills the room

5 -5 6 7 -5
And the song they play
5 -5 6 7 -5
Is that guy with the messed up face
5 -5 6 -5 5 -5 5 -4 4
Going, "Precious and few are the moments that you
-4 5 -5 5 4 -4
And your own worst enemy share."

7 -7 -6 6
Full bottle in front of me
7 -7 -6 6 -5
Time to roll up my sleeves
-5 5 -5 5
And get to work
4 5 4 5 4 5 -4
And after many glasses of work
5 -5 5 -5 4 -5
I get paid in the brain

5 -5 6 7 -5
And the song they play
5 -5 6 7 -5
Is that guy with the messed up face
5 -5 6 -5 5 -5 5 -4 4
Going, "Precious and few are the moments that you
-4 5 -5 5 4 -4
And your own worst enemy share."

5 -5 6 7 -5
And the song they play
5 -5 6 7 -5
Is that guy with the messed up face
5 -5 6 -5 5 -5 5 -4 4
Going, "Precious and few are the moments that you
-4 5 -5 5 4 -4
And your own worst enemy share."
7 -7 -6 6 -6 6
It's your own worst enemy

Another First Kiss

v1.0

For standard diatonic in the key of C.

(Note: "="s signify glissandos: basically, play the notes connected by =s in rapid(ish) succession. This is usually because there is more than one melody note for a syllable. Don't worry if this sounds confusing, just play along with the music and it should make sense.)

7 -7 -6 6 -6 6 5 -4=4
I'm asleep, but she's talking to me
4 7 -7 -6 6 -6 7 6
She's walking 'round wearing all of my clothes
4 -4 5 6 -6 7 6
As she runs out of things to say
4 -4 5 6 -6 78=-8=7
And grabs my coat to walk away

7 -7 -6 -7 6 5 -4=4
"How 'bout another first kiss?" she said
7 -7 -6 -7 6 5 -4=4
"How 'bout another first kiss?" I said
7 -7 -6 -7 7 -6
I want another first kiss like this
-6 6 5 -4 4
How 'bout another first kiss?

7 -7 -6 6 -6 6 5 -4=4
Other people were too sentimental
4 7 -7=-6=6 -6 7 6
And always worrying about their hair
4 -4 5 6 -6 7 6
Got tired of wasting all my time
4 -4 5 6 -6 7 8=-8=7
Now I'm not worrying at all

7 -7 -6 -7 6 5 -4=4
"How 'bout another first kiss?" she said
7 -7 -6 -7 6 5 -4=4
"How 'bout another first kiss?" I said
7 -7 -6 -7 7 -6
I want another first kiss like this
-6 6 5 -4 4
How 'bout another first kiss?

7 -7 -6 6 -6 6 3 -4=4
You could tell me we belong together
4 7 -7 -6 6 -6 7 6
And I could tell you you belong with me
4 -4 5 6 -6 7 6
But we've run out of things to say
4 -4 5 6 -6=7=8 -8=7
And we'll be happy anyway so

7 -7 -6 -7 6 5 -4=4
"How 'bout another first kiss?" she said
7 -7 -6 -7 6 5 -4=4
"How 'bout another first kiss?" I said
7 -7 -6 -7 7 -6
I want another first kiss like this
-6 6 5
How 'bout another first kiss?

7 -7 -6 -7 6 5 -4=4
"How 'bout another first kiss?" she said
7 -7 -6 -7 6 5 -4=4
"How 'bout another first kiss?" I said
7 -7 -6 -7 7 -6
I want another first kiss like this
-6 6 5 5=-4 4
How 'bout another first kiss?

Mrs. Train

v1.0

For standard diatonic in the key of D

(Note: Linnell hits a note in the lower octave (the sixth note of the scale) at the end of stanzas which can't be played on standard diatonics; I've tried to work around this by playing chord notes)

5 -5 6 6 6 -6 6 6 -5 5 -4 4 5
I don't want to be first in line to see Mrs. Train
5 -5 6 6 6 -6 6 6 -5 5 -4 4 -4
I ex-pect that it doesn't matter to Mrs. Train
-4 5 -5 -5 -5 -4 -4 5 -5 -5 -5 6 5
Being comfortable with yourself, and being patient and taking your time
4 -4 5 5 -5 5 -4 4 -2 -3 4
Are the things that Mrs. Train can un-derstand

6 6 -5 5 -4 5 5 4 -4 5
I've never seen a train like this be-fore
5 5 5 5 -5 5 -4
But then again, there's ne-ver been
4 -5 -5 -5 6 -6 -6 6 -5 6
A train like this be-fore like Mrs. Train
6 -7 -6 6 6 6 -6 6 -5
And someone's got to be the one to declare
-5 -5 6 6 -5 5 4 -5 5 -4 -3 4
That they want to be next in line to see Mrs. Train
