Talk:Who's Gonna Guess The Dead Guy?

  • Really? Y100? As a Philadelphia resident, I can tell you I have heard absolutely none of Their songs on Y100. It's mainly been rockers that are saying they want to kill themselves (or others) because their girlfriend has cheated on them. Or maybe that's only during the middle of the night, when all of the stuff on Mix 95.7 gets too cheesey to handle. Did Y100 actually play Their songs? I guess I must listen more often. Any Philly area wiki editors can help me out, if I'm not the only one. Aurora Hawthorne
  • I lived in Philly in 1997-1999. Around that time, they played a lot of popular junk, but the swing revival was going on at the time and they also played some Ben Folds from time to time. Never any TMBG, though. I did, however, hear ads for TMBG shows on their station and I recall them broadcasting a show I was at. When the radio personality came out to introduce the band, some angry show-goers cried out "HOW COME YOU NEVER PLAY THEIR STUFF?" Anyhoo, I heard them play the game "Dead Guy in the Envelope" several times, but not with this theme song. I have heard the mp3, and it's undeniably Them singing "Who's Gonna Guess The Dead Guy in the Envelope" to a then-undeveloped Boss of Me melody. Possibly live as guests on the show, but I can't confirm that. TVsKyle
    • I definitely remember hearing this played on the air. I don't remember any of the details, but I do remember it being used. (2/24/06)
  • Huh. Why would they want to have Them on the station, but never play Their music? Strange. But I wouldn't have been listening then anyhow, because I was only eight. And if I had listened to the radio then (and I didn't), I had never heard of TMBG back then. I would have recognized the sound, though. Aurora Hawthorne
  • Perhaps it's a different Y100? On Google I found that there is also a Y100 in Miami, and also one in Wisconsin (albeit a country station). -Professa G
