Talk:The Siblings
Does anyboy else think that it is really sad that Sky loathes everything about his little brother's life? I don't know, maybe its just me, but I have to sad I'm proud of Flans for not letting it affect him. ~fingertips
- It wouldn't surprise me if his brother feels Flans is wasting his time and influence. After all, rock music can't be as important as saving the environment, right? I could be wrong, but he seems like one of the rabid activists we have around here; they have little or no sense of humor and think much of what makes life fun and interesting is a juvenille waste of time. It's interesting how very different the two brothers are (though it makes me wonder what values/traits they might have in common, if anything). — zytka
Is This Paxus?[edit]
Oh yeah, that's Earl the III! It doesn't do him justice - he's good looking.

As of January 2004, he was a member of the Nuclear Information Research Service in Washington. He appears as "Paxus Calta" on a request for a formal hearing regarding some nuclear plants. In fact, his name is all over environmentalist documents. Quite the activist, this one. This may not be his webpage, but I'd be very surprised if there were multiple Paxus Caltas associated with TwinOaks and running around protesting nuclear plants.
Also, Duke, it would make more sense to me that siblings have their own page instead of being on the page listed as "Parents". I'd never seen Sky/Paxus, so when I first saw this page (and before I read the entire text), my first though was "That guy is too young to be Flans' dad. It must be an old photo." It just seems a bit confusing, but if there's a reason for it, I'll defer to you. — zytka
- Sounds good...if you want to split them out, that'd be great. If not, i can do it later.--Duke33 09:07, 1 Jul 2005 (EDT)
- Ok, I'll get on it today. — zytka
It's been a long time since I've seen a photo of Pax. Damn straight it's him. We worked together from late '93 to '97ish, when he moved out of Eastern Europe for good and started with Twin Oaks for good. I was under the impression that his main work at this point is chief hammock marketer for the Oaks, but what do *I* know? He's definitely not hyperserious about everything, just some things. I can confirm the story of his belief that Chess Piece Face and Hot Cha are about him, and in a non-flattering way. Or something. In any case, I think that belief is why he doesn't like the music -- NOT the fact that John is playing rock music, etc. etc.
Pax's taste in music, incidentally, uh... was not mine. Anything protesty, no matter how poppish... and above all lots of U2. Hours and hours of U2. Years and years of U2. Aaaaargh.
Nice guy, though. (And quite the snake charmer -- that's why I'm quite ready to believe he's chief hammock marketer at TO.)
Oh, and the webpage pointed to is indeed his!

After a show in Eugene, OR I heard someone approach Flans and say, "I lived with your brother Sky in his commune in Vermont [?]", to which Flans replied an enthusiastic, "Oh, yeah?", but inquired no more about the relationship.
Before that same show I was approached by a woman who said she was John Linnell's step-sister! I forgot her name (this was years ago), but if someone wants to find Linnell siblings, Eugene, Oregon may be a good place to start.
