Date of this show[edit]
I was looking for TMBG on Newspapers.com (which I usually use for genealogy). One of the first entries was from a review of a TMBG show at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. The article was published on Tuesday May 8th, 1990 and said it was "Saturday night", which would make it May 5th. That conflicts with this show (though newspapers have been known to be wrong before, too). I linked to the article below. What reference do we have on this show being on this specific date?--Pittsburghmuggle (talk) 20:15, 31 January 2015 (EST)
what's the conflict? 5 May 1990 was a Saturdayoops, just realized this is listed as a show in NY! one moment Apollo (colloquia!) 20:20, 31 January 2015 (EST)- because of the existence of the bootleg, which includes "happy birthday to flans", i'm inclined to believe that the bootleg does correspond to this date. i'd be interested in hearing it in order to see if there's any mention of the venue/city/whatever. i also would expect the reviewer to mention flans's birthday if it were the case, but i guess it's not like, a requirement. the reviewer also mentions a different opening act, so i'm guessing there was a show in SUNY separate from the IUP show, but we have the wrong date for one of them. the most confusing thing to me is that we don't have any date cataloged for IUP in 1990. Apollo (colloquia!) 20:30, 31 January 2015 (EST)
- Yep, there seems to be wires crossed there somewhere. I'll do more digging.--Pittsburghmuggle (talk) 12:09, 1 February 2015 (EST)
- The IUP show is referred to here on May 6th, which is an open date.--Pittsburghmuggle (talk) 12:16, 1 February 2015 (EST)
- Since the IUP yearbook gives the date as May 6th (working link here), that Indiana Gazette reviewer must've gotten it wrong. I've created a page for the IUP show here. --Octoflange (talk) 19:42, 30 August 2018 (EDT)
