Talk:Oh You Did
This is just lovely[edit]
With a wonderful sparse production it's going to take a very good singer to pull this off. Flans wisely choose his wife to sing. She is just a wonderful. I wish she sang on more of the stuff and she nails it. Flans again (I'm assuming it's his) hits the jackpot with the lyrics about the problems of parenthood. The genius of this song is that he articulates a universal truth of having kids. To write a set of lyrics that does this makes you think: brilliant... and then, why's no one said this before? The backing vocals are very clever too.
If you forget about the lyrics and think about the music it's a very New York kind of song. The backing vocal delivery remind me of Sonic Youth (on the song Goo) but the song itself reminds me more of Lou Reed, it's playfulness is the kind of thing he'd write for Moe Tucker, but melody wise, it's kind of an innocent sibling of his Bowie produced track from Transformer: New York Conversation. Mark my words laughing Lou was the musical if not lyrical inspiration. Great track. (Mr Tuck) 15:22, November 27, 2015
Magnetic Fields[edit]
I get a very Magnetic Fields "69 Love Songs" vibe from this and "Long White Beard." --Kaylum (talk) 11:46, 6 December 2015 (EST)
