The drums are good...[edit]
When you're this far in and you're pretty much your own boss - you end up with songs like this. Musically it's pretty basic for the most, and the wonderful production disguises how basic it is. The less said about the ur ur ur attempt at the middle eight or is it a chorus (?) the better. Lyrically, as is the case for much of this album, we're rolling our eyes at the post-modern obliqueness.
As I've said before, the lack of a critical voice has been a problem in recent years. A simple - 'this isn't good enough John, it can go on EP if it must, but best leave it for dial a song'. The one bright spot are the drums which are gorgeous. (Mr Tuck)
