If anybody had more info about any of these songs, feel free to comment here. The things I'm not 100 percent sure on are (1) the exact order these MP3s were made available (especially the first two and the last three), (2) the original eMusic album numbers for Hey Everybody and the last three, and (3) the original eMusic album names for the last three. Anyone else know? ~Drew

We are giving out the copyrighted lyrics and tabs to TMBG songs, though. Weird huh?

Actually, it all amounts to ones and zeroes: binary data transcoded by software to be human-interpretable as sound, video or text. Any differentiation is therefore irrational bias.
It might also be noted that many people make a good living selling mere words -- and just as it is against the law to reprint magazine or newspaper articles, or books, without authorization from the copyright holder, it is against the law to reprint the copyrighted lyrics of a band who generate revenue from that intellectual property.
In this modern age when any rapscallion in possession of a modem and PC may acquire any music they want through illicit means, protected IP such as the lyrics and artwork present in CD liners have gained even more worth. They provide extra incentive to purchase physical media through legitimate means.
Next time, before mounting a pedestal of moral superiority when responding to a request to violate copyright, please stop to consider that the participants in this web-thievery are already hip-deep in depravity. And some might argue that it's even more severe than the distribution of old music files -- the band still sells physical CDs (including liner notes with lyrics) every day. A songbook with tabs has been announced. But the exclusive music files are discontinued and no longer generate profit.

Couple of Omissions[edit]
According to my files from the time, there were at least a couple of other tunes that were offered, as two-fers. These were: Shooting Star/Ram On, and Wicked Little Critta/Chopping Block Testimonial. I don't know where these came out chronologically.
categorisation[edit]
does this actually warrant a proper tracklisting? it doesn't seem like it was really a "release". from the page it doesn't sound like they were all released together, or even necessarily in the order listed and there's no artwork. wouldn't it make more sense to just use a list format like Free Tunes? -Apollo (colloquia!) 13:01, 31 August 2012 (EDT)
