Talk:Covers

From This Might Be A Wiki

The current style and all was a quick set up just to get the idea out the door. If anyone has any ideas on how to make it more organized or look better, please fix it up. --Droffats 22:05, 20 Dec 2005 (EST)

I am mega excited about this page, I love TMBG covers. Now if only Hello Radio would come out...

I don't see how to download the Steve Burns cover. Re-edit: O.K., it finally got through the waiting period and has downloaded now. This is an excellent cover, worth the wait.--M. Fudd 02:32, 28 Dec 2005 (EST)

The page Other Songs With References To TMBG has a big list of covers by other bands. They seem out of place there and would probably best fit here. -badqueso 00:43, 3 Jan 2006 (EST)

you guys also might want to copy all of the accordion/guitar recordings posted on their respective pages to here, as the are covers -Cody-schmidt

What does everyone think about incorporating the covers into their TMBG-orginal song pages? --Droffats 19:26, 24 Mar 2006 (CST)

Woah, who put my two covers up here? That's weird. Either way I'm deleting them. I don't like the quality. I'll make better ones later. -Logan

So I just linked the original songs on the "other covers" section, and I realized that there's no organization in that list at all. It would probably be good to alphabetize it, either by song title or covering band-- no preference here. ~ magbatz 19:21, 8 October 2006 (EST)

FYI, Rob, Lately's Myspace version is no longer accessible. Is there an option to get a download here on the TMBW, like "We Might Be Giants, Too!" ?

this page[edit]

i have mixed feelings about this page. i like the idea of people being able to share their stuff and all but the "other covers" section is far too long and really unnecessary if there are no available downloads. there's absolutely no point in noting every time someone covered a song ever. so i think that sound just be deleted without remorse. as for the "covers to download" section, we definitely need to go through and weed out dead links (and replace them if possible). my other concern is that they get sort of outdated. some of these were made a long time ago. i think it would be neat if newer stuff was highlighted more? i also kinda wish there was a way to distinguish on-the-spot covers from more polished recordings, although i'm not sure what's what since i haven't listened to most of these. -Apollo (colloquia!) 10:59, 28 June 2013 (EDT)

I've removed/replaced dead links and then specified what's actually being linked. One thing that I think should perhaps be added to the page is a section for covers by more prominent bands, like the Titus Andronicus cover of Birdhouse for the A.V. Club and others. ~ veggieman 01:19, 25 August 2013 (EDT)
i can definitely get behind that proposal. furthermore, i think the current table should be moved further down the page, perhaps between albums and shows (or below both), and single-song covers by bigger artists can go in the space at the top. i think that arrangement would make sense based on the hierarchy of what people probably come to this page looking for (unless they want TMBG Remakes). on the other hand, grouping all the single-song covers would also possibly be preferable. in other words, i'm undecided right now; it's 3:00am and i will probably have a better thing to say tomorrow/today afternoon. -Apollo (colloquia!) 02:59, 25 August 2013 (EDT)

Page titles[edit]

Does anyone else feel like this is too confusable with TMBG Remakes? Both titles could technically refer to either page. Should it maybe be something like "Covers of TMBG" and "Covers by TMBG"? --ColorOfInfinity (talk) 01:24, 19 February 2022 (EST)
