Record store appearance preceding show that evening at City Gardens (Shows/1988-01-23b).

Central New Jersey Home News, Jan. 22, 1988:

Cheap Thrills Records on George Street in New Brunswick will host an in-store appearance by that zany New York duo, They Might Be Giants, tomorrow afternoon.

If you've never heard They Might Be Giants' weird, uncategorized sounds and would like to hear a sample before catching them live, the band has established a telephone hotline complete with a recorded message that includes club dates and a smidgen of music. The "dial-a-song" number is 1-(718) 337-6962.

They Might Be Giants (John Linnell and John Flansburgh) will be in the store to promote their self-titled album, released last year by Bar None Records in Hoboken. They will perform an acoustic set there before heading out to City Gardens in Trenton for a show tomorrow night.
