Packing up the Dopp kit with a lot of vitamins and the iPod with a lot of podcasts for the epic bus rides (On the Media, Liam Lynch, Mod-ified Music, Fresh Air, Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day--today's word is "longueur"!) I'm packing my rather bulky digital camera, and thinking of giving myself the small creative challenge of posting a photo a day on the www.theymightbegiants.com blog page. In theory it shouldn't be too hard (although just doing anything besides the show seems to get too hard after a week of living on a bus.) To sharpen my posting skills, I just posted an amazing shot Linnell took of a crowd in the immediate afterglow of the confetti cannons going off (I think it was taken at the Fillmore in San Francisco on the Venues Songs tour but I'm not positive). Our opening band for most of the tour is the amazing duo Oppenheimer from Belfast Northern Ireland. We are looking forward to our half trillion shows with them. One guy plays the drums and the other guy doesn't play the drums. These guys we fantastic at our final Bowery show-very pop and quite the fresh breeze-and we're sure you'll find them just as awesome. Their album is actually out on our original indie label Bar/None out of Hoboken! (Who knew--they never tell us anything anymore!) Our show features our fine five piece band including Drum King Marty Beller on his drum throne, the President of Rock'n'Roll Dan Miller and our musical sherpa Danny Weinkauf. We've been making some subtle but hopefully meaningful changes in the show, but in general are just really excited to be taking The Else to the stage, and taking more phone calls from the dead! There are going to be a couple of videos for The Else coming out on the web momenarily--and more after that!--but more about that soon! COME ON OUT!
