ABOUT THIS AMAZING NEW DINOSAUR DESIGN
IN SHIRTS UP TO 5XL as well as ONESIES
Long ago, when we first embarked on making songs for kids as well as adults, a half-dozen friends in a half-dozen different settings pulled us aside and whispered conspiratorially one word –– “Dinosaurs.” Of course, being the treble-kickin’ indie rockers that we were, we immediately recoiled from the obvious. But in the fullness of time and with the persuasion of visual artist David Cowles (the man who brought you the Fingertips shirt, The Mesopotamians video, the Escape Team videos, and so many other TMBG moments) we now have this ingenious design. And, for this pre-order we are making it in every form — from 5XL all the way down to onesies with kid sizes in between. Will we keep making them in all these sizes? Well, we probably can’t because the demand might not be there. But that’s why we need to LIVE FOR TODAY and do the things that BRING EVERYONE PLEASURE. We want to encourage you to be you, and perhaps get a jump on your holiday shopping. The one thing we can guarantee is it will be the perfect gift for any sized human in your life, and you’ll be so happy you thought ahead to get it going now.
ABOUT OUR 48-HOUR SALE and PRE-ORDERS
Get a pre-order of our new Dinosaur design in any configuration and receive 50% off any second purchase with the code TWOTHINGS.
Again, this is a PRE-ORDER. We will be shipping out your entire order AFTER the new design is manufactured, so it will be landing in your mailbox somewhere around early November. Yes, that might seem like a long time from now, but perfect for holiday gift planning –– especially considering the nightlight scarcity, and the distinct possibility that we won’t be able to run as complete a selection of sizes and shapes after this initial Dinosaur pre-order is out of production.
So pre-order this shirt for the December holidays and get a second item (Mink Car on vinyl, a nightlight, Flood on cassette, one of the last copies of BOOK?) for 50% off with the code TWOTHINGS at check out. You’ll need two things in your cart to watch the savings pile in.
RELEASED ON THIS DAY 24 YEARS AGO
MINK CAR IS AVAILABLE ON VINYL!
MINK CAR celebrates its 24th birthday today. We are proud to say that a super-deluxe vinyl reissue of the album is available now. A gatefold cover lovingly reassembled by graphic design superstar Liz Connor, pressed on audiophile 180g white vinyl, with the audio remastered by Sterling Sound. On sale now, and discounted if you opt in for the dinosaur shirt.
MORE ABOUT THE HISTORY OF MINK CAR
Packed with audience favorites, Mink Car found the band collaborating with multiple producers, including a return round of songs with Flood hitmakers Langer and Winstanley. The album also spotlighted the talented production of newcomer Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne) on multiple songs including "Man, It's So Loud in Here." The inserted download card includes "Your Mom's Alright” — a collaboration with M. Doughty (Soul Coughing) previously only available as a bonus track on the Japanese CD release.
Released on 9/11/01, Mink Car was functionally out of print as a CD after the initial copies arrived in stores with financing withdrawn from Restless Records in the panic after 9/11. They were bankrupt just weeks later, and with iTunes and digital music brand new to the scene, the rights to the album would become ensnared in the company’s collapse, and even electronic availability was frozen for over a decade.
The updated digital version of Mink Car now features all 4 bonus tracks from the original Japanese CD release: the Grammy-award winning theme song from Malcolm in the Middle "Boss of Me," the aforementioned "Your Mom's Alright," audience favorite "Robot Parade (Adult Version)," and the Dial-A-Song rarity "MacGyver.”
