A NOTE FROM JOHN F.
Hey everybody and greetings from the beautiful Catskill Mountains in New York State. Hope everyone is enjoying this summer interval as much as we are. As you probably know, They Might Be Giants are back on the road in September across the US and a ton of shows have recently been added. Direct links to all of the available shows are right here.
But today’s big news is that we are having a fully righteous tour merch sale. Posters! Shirts! Books! Hoodies!
You know every tour is a learning opportunity for TMBG, and we recently learned that if you have to reschedule a week of shows, you are going to find yourself with a warehouse of nearly unmovable merchandise. Is this stuff beautiful? Yes. Is it new and clean? Yes. Do these objects have tour dates including shows that never took place? Yes. Do we have a bunch of them? Sure do!
So our folly becomes your opportunity! While it makes us grumpy just thinking about our sunken costs, we have everything from the tour on sale for 30% off, including BOOK (with way less than a thousand copies left in print) and selected stuff is actually FORTY PERCENT OFF. Just go to www.TMBGshop.com right now and get in on these deals. Some quantities are very limited, so don’t wait too long. We are looking to liquidate this stuff and reinvest in nightlights before more tariffs set in.
On a lighter note, Amoeba records in San Francisco was kind enough to invite me to be on their fascinating "What’s in Your Bag?" YouTube series. (Part of me suspected they didn’t realize I had done it years earlier in Los Angeles so I just kept that part quiet.) It really was a blast being able to putter around the store and find some music to dig in to.
Here is one of the tracks that I mentioned –– Dan Ellis performing Hey Jude. And here I must give a hearty tip of the hat to my musical partner John Linnell for turning me onto this track originally. It is really a journey. It’s wild in the middle and very wild at the end. Dig!
Check in with LAZY –– our Irving Berlin cover. This song is a hundred years old!
