Nothing is more SUMMER for me than iced coffee, and in recent years, cold brew has become ubiquitous. So here is a very simple and highly economical (!) recipe for 24-HOUR COLD BREW COFFEE.
There are a lot of recipes for cold brew coffee, some of which are really complicated and some of which are almost too simple. This one is easy, but the key is making it a couple of times and tweaking the recipe to your preference since the variables in strength can be modified to your palette.
INGREDIENTS: One cup of ground coffee, 3 cups of water today, more cups of water tomorrow.
Pour the water and coffee into a pitcher, stir vigorously, cover top, and let sit for 24 hours. (The full 24 definitely delivers the richer mellower flavors).
One day later, remove the ground coffee from the liquid by pouring the liquid back and forth from the pitcher through a strainer and into another vessel. When it is clear of obvious grounds, use a coffee filter set in the strainer to get the fine particulates. (This might take a few minutes and a couple of pours. Be patient!)
If you add a lot of milk and want your coffee strong, add a cup of water and test. 2 cups of water should be regular strength, but if that’s still too strong, add another cup. ENJOY!
