It has been quite a year for everyone, and as we all start coming out of the long global nightmare we hope this message finds your physical and mental health returning to some sense of normal. We want to thank everyone on this informal newsletter, currently 140,000 strong, for participating in the band’s evolution. We try to keep it zesty. In that effort, and out of appreciation for the amazing activity both with all these sold out shows and historic merch sales this year, we want to offer up something truly special for free to you today.

The John Henry Demos were recorded in a huge transitional moment for the band, transitioning from a duo to a full band. We were reluctant to go into the studio with the new line up with no experience or guide, so we slipped into a new Brooklyn recording space called Excello and essentially tracked the whole album for practice. The results were fortifying, and while the ultimate record definitely had more polish, the excitement of the first run-through has its own charms. For years only available as a bootleg in duplicate of duplicate quality, this is the document of that effort in full fidelity, engineered and mixed then by our future longtime producer Patrick Dillett. It is available on our site exclusively, and only free for the next 48 hours or so.
