Lyrics Talk:Put Your Hand Inside The Puppet Head

From This Might Be A Wiki

When people talk of great lyrics they'll bang on about Dylan, Morrissey ect, but not the Giants, well these lyrics are absolutely amazing and this is one of my favourite songs of all time. When I first heard it it seemed to be about the narrator of the song waving goodbye to the industrial past of his country. As a citizen of the UK whose manufacturing industry was dying at the time this song was written I'm probably reading too much into it, especially as the USA was doing pretty well at the time.

Rather the Narrator is just getting out of his town and trying something new. Perhaps the puppet head represents showbiz, god knows. In the Giants songs of the first two albums there is so much grit about working life and Flans lyrics are so well observed and surreal. Easily in my Top 10 songs ever by the Giants, and easily in my top 20 songs from anybody ever. Perfect.(MR TUCK)

Missing some consonants[edit]

This is what I hear:

Put ya hand inside the puppe hea
Put ya hand inside the puppe hea
Put ya hand insie
Put ya hand insie
Put ya hand inside the puppe hea

...not proposing any changes, just noting that Flans appears to be singing it this way for the fun of it. --Nehushtan (talk) 06:09, 29 August 2019 (EDT)
