Sexploding Invitation[edit]
Jackie Collins was one of the first female novelists to write explicit sex scenes for a mass audience. The current version of the main song page mildly calls her a romance novelist. Not really. Her stuff was the high-class trash about super rich people behaving badly, and her audience was not limited to the readership of Harlequins & the like.
The song's female character likes the trash and thinks it would enlighten men like the narrator... presumably because he hasn't behaved like Collins' studly male characters. It's a dig on his manhood. The evening started with her offer - an "invitation" to a fun time. But once they get in bed she decides that his promise as a lover was an "exaggeration." She says he's nothing but a "toy" and drops him. So her invitation "explodes" and he is rejected, "left behind." --Nehushtan (talk) 01:33, 13 June 2021 (EDT)
