I think this is a song talking about everything catching on fire. --Salio-Shally 23:36, June 14, 2008

Interpretation 2[edit]

It's obviously about how everything around him is screwing up, and just overall, going up in flames. --cyberspace95 00:35, April 19, 2006

Interpretation 3[edit]

I think this song is supposed to poke sly fun at the Athens, Georgia sound. There are pretty strong R.E.M. flavors throughout the segment, and especially if Michael Stipe's voice annoys you, it's perfectly clear. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.213.165.122 (talkcontribs) 21:31, September 10, 2006

Interpretation 4[edit]

I think that the song is about the extinction at the end of the Cretaceous that killed of the dinosaurs. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.205.163.30 (talkcontribs) 21:26, May 6, 2007

Interpretation 5[edit]

I think the Giants are just trying to evoke that sort of giddy, cheerful way they tend to describe chaotic, horrible situations. Everything around them (or perhaps somewhere else) is being engulfed in a spreading lake of flames, and they are cheerfully singing along.

Also, I rarely hear anyone say that something is "catching on fire" in normal conversation--it's usually something like "the fire is spreading" or "the flames are spreading". It's almost like something a kid would say. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.89.19.185 (talkcontribs) 02:51, February 14, 2009
