I don't understand the chords Eb+aug5, Eb+6, Eb+7, Ab+6, or Ab+maj7. Could a better guitarist explain these to me? --liam 17:42, 14 May 2006 (CDT)

Basically, you're putting the note after the plus sign into the chord. It's easy if you know your scales. The scale of Eb Major is as follows:

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
Eb F G Ab Bb C D Eb

So where it says Eb+aug5, you're adding an augmented 5th into the chord (if you don't know, augmented means raised by one note). So you're taking the 5th, which is Bb, and moving it one note higher, so it's B instead. Do the same with every other chords, and you get this (if you can't finger the chords easily enough, do the one in brackets next to it):

   Eb+aug5 Eb+6 Eb+min7
e|--6------|--6--------|--6------|
B|--8------|--8--------|--8------|
G|--8------|--8--------|--6--(6)-|
D|--9--(9)-|--10--(10)-|--8--(8)-|
A|--6--(6)-|--6---(6)--|--6--(6)-|
E|---------|-----------|---------|

Follow the same guidelines using the scale of Ab Major:

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
Ab Bb C Db Eb F G Ab

   Ab+6 Ab+Maj7
e|--4----4-----|--4------|
B|--4----4-----|--4------|
G|--5----5-----|--5------|
D|--6----3-----|--5--(5)-|
A|--8-OR-6-(8)-|--6--(6)-|
E|--4----4-(4)-|--4--(4)-|

And there you go. You just doubled your guitar knowledge. --pat 04:19, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
