Trivia/Info
- This alternate version of "Freebird" was recorded for Dial-A-Song in 1991, with the "boy" mentioned in the song being changed to "girl" instead for this version. Keyboard and faint drum machine backing are also used, while the first recording only uses guitar.
- First made available through fan recordings of Dial-A-Song, this version was officially released to members of the 2024 Instant Fan Club, transferred from a Dial-A-Song cassette found in John Flansburgh's storage space. It was described by Flansburgh in the accompanying description as "a song put together fast to feed the ever-hungry Dial-A-Song project with little thought to permanence or durability!" The first recording of "Freebird" remains unreleased.
- This version, similarly to the first recording, features a tacked-on message from Flansburgh.
