Bass Tab Talk:The Guitar
From This Might Be A Wiki
This tab is tricky. Since TMBG played this on a short-scale bass, it's tough at first to work on a full-scale bass unless you have large hands. Just keep practicing is my advice, I got it eventually! --Sail 01:56, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
I don't mean to make a big deal out of something that's not really a big deal, and I'm sure there's just something I'm missing here, so excuse my asking but what's the point of having all three variations on the page when they're all the same notes, just fingered differently? - Apollo (colloquia!) 18:29, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
- The first variation is the way it's played on the album, you can tell by the sound of it and from the music video (despite Linnell not actually playing on the recording) that all the notes are actually fretted, but the recording was done on a short-scale bass as stated above. Live I've seen it been played like the 3rd variation, but it seems Weinkauf usually goes nuts with it. On a normal scale bass it's tricky, just leave it to the player to decide which variation to use. --Ravioli221 21:19, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
- But I don't see the point in having them all there, can't the player just modify the first one themselves to suit their needs? No, well, I don't actually really care how many variations of the tab there are on the page, I'm just wondering what's so wrong with this page that it needs the "needs cleaned up" tag. - Apollo (colloquia!) 22:16, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
- I'm not sure who put the tag on, but the page looks weird on my browser anyway, the last line of text is all one line and it extends the width of the page, it's either a formatting problem or it's just me. There's no problem with all the variations as far as I can see, some other tabs have multiple variations. --Ravioli221 22:37, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
