A beautiful melody[edit]

If there is one song on the new album that sums up the conundrum of they might be giants its this song. A beautiful melody and wonderfully played it's a gorgeous piece of music that Linnell sings really well. Lyrically it's classic post-modern Linnell stream of conscious stuff that baffles the mainstream listener. The music is so romantic that it would have been nice to have had a more conventional romantic lyric to accompany it. On Lincoln, there was much more willingness to explore conventional lyrical themes in their typically unconventional style - say the brilliant They'll Need a Crane. In recent years they've preferred to be more oblique. Speaking critically I would have preferred something akin to They'll Need a Crane, lyrically, for this song - I feel it would match the musical feel. Still, regardless of that, this is my favourite song from the new album. (Mr Tuck)

It’s really grown on me, lyrically, and now I wouldn’t change it. I ended up preferring Less than One, but this tune ended up my 5th listened to over the year. (Mr Tuck)
