Hey Everybody! Flansburgh here.
Happy to report many things are happening in the TMBG camp. We are off the road for the time being, but the best of The Spine tour is currently being compiled and mixed and, yes, a special bonus disc of "Venue Songs" will be included. We will be taking advance orders momentarily (but not yet!) so we can avoid getting buried under thousands more orders than anticipated-with a mail order delivery aimed at late Nov. for all your gift giving needs.
We're already set to working on new songs for the next album, along with the planning of our next book project with S&S. With such an amazing band to work with we are eagerly anticipating the whole process. The last few months of shows have been a total dream, and we suspect, as many of you who came out probably felt, the whole project has a entered an exciting new stage of its long evolution.
Remember-If you want to relive any of the glories of recent live shows, they are available online along with the spectacular fan-favorite "The Spine Surfs Alone" as unrestricted MP3 downloads at www.theymightbegiants.com.
PEOPLE ARE WRONG! IN PREVIEWS IN NYC AT THE VINEYARD THEATER PREVIEWS START OCT. 22. OPENS NOV. 4 Super-special deal on tickets for TMBG folks....
I have spent the last couple of weeks in heavy rehearsals for the off-Broadway run of "People Are Wrong!" an original musical that I am very excited to be starring in. As you might know, the show was created by my pals Robin "Goldie" Goldwasser and Julia Greenberg, and also stars the amazing Dave Driver, many of the vocalists featured in the Loser's Lounge, as well as the Loser's Lounge band. The show is directed by Obie-winner David Herskovitz and produced by the Vineyard Theater (who created the Broadway hit Avenue Q which debuted at the Vineyard last year). PAW! has developed exponentially since its previous NYC incarnations (we actually staged it in Bonn, Germany early this summer and in spite of the language barrier, it seemed to rock them) and I sincerely want to encour- age every one to come out. This is our first full staging with costumes and sets and all indications are that a good time is to be had by all. We go into previews in a few weeks, and I have coerced the Vineyard into giving me an incredibly special deal on tickets just for TMBG fans. If you go to the theatermania site at http://www.theatermania.com/ticketing/index.cfm?int_showid=104980&partner=TM and plug in the word "giants" in the special code section at the bottom, you can get $20 seats while we're in previews from Oct. 22 til Nov. 3. As you probably know $20 is a total bargain for a NY theater ticket and the Vineyard has been very right on to get us this special deal, so we really hope y'all enthusiastically take advantage of it.
