Talk:Discography
So I've made two versions of the "Chronological Order" section. Which one do people like best? The original idea was for something like the table, but when I started it I found myself making a list for some reason. The table gives more information, which is good. In the Date column, I was planning on listing the release date, if known, which I still plan to implement. The lists should be in chronological order by year as well but if they're not it's because we don't have months or days of release on that album's page. I also tried to center the dates horizontally but couldn't remember how. Feel free to tweak it as you like and input via comment is wanted. Oh, and I think we should stick with the table. I only saved the list so people could compare them. --badqueso 05:40, 2 Jul 2006 (MDT)
I feel so proud of my baby. All grown up and edited. *cries emotionally* --liam (wtf?) 12:53, 2 Jul 2006 (MDT)
Hey, first off, kudos-- the page looks spiffy! Just one thing I thought of -- TMBG Unlimited. I don't know where it would fit in (or if it should at all), but I figured it would at least be worth mentioning. ~ magbatz 13:08, 3 Jul 2006 (MDT)
what about labels? record labels, mind you

Themes
Forgive me for asking here if it's inappropriate, but is there a list of their non-TMBG work, like NPR themes or other work for hire?
- There's no single comprehensive page, but we have TV And Movie Themes. That page also links at the bottom to themes for radio shows and songs for advertisements. ~ magbatz
- The only other thing I would add to Magbatz' comments is that the discography is really a listing of "releases"...so a lot of those themes haven't seen a physical (cd, cassette, etc) release or even as a digital single. The only ones i can think of that did were Boss Of Me and The Leonard Lopate Show Single. (I'm sure there are others, but that's just off the top of my head.) --Duke33 16:19, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
singles / promos
experimental film and au contraire are singles as much as snail shell (they're all just promos), so why are they on here, and snail shell (and prevenge, and i'm impressed, etc) isn't? btw, i'm proposing they be taken off rather than adding all the other promos on. ~※ Limabeans ※ 09:33, 15 December 2009 (UTC)
- I agree -- unless anyone objects, I am going to remove: Purple Toupee, Experimental Film, and Au Contraire. --Duke33 16:11, 15 December 2009 (UTC)
TMBG vs McSweeney
At the top of the page, it notes that the Discography page excludes various artist compilations. Now, They Might Be Giants Vs. McSweeney is made up of mostly TMBG, but some other artists, too. I think. So does this really count or not? And if it does, where do we draw the line between enough and not enough TMBG on any given comp for it to count and be on this page? -- DidgeGuy (आ ज) 17:00,27 May 2010
- mcsweeeney's is really almost entirely tmbg. in terms of drawing the line, making a hard rule isn't very reasonable, but fortunately there aren't very many things in the gray area. it should also be noted that tmbg is the only headlined artist for mcsweeney's... it's really just them, plus a couple tracks from other people. -- 19:08, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
TMBG Live 2018?
Why is it not in the Database? Is their some rule that forbids it from being added?
Video Compilation
"Title: Video Compilation - Type: Video Compilation" lol. --ColorOfInfinity (talk) 19:46, 20 March 2020 (EDT)
For ease of use with the large number of releases, especially on mobile browsers, would it be possible to include the discography subsection navigation box at the top of the page as well as at the bottom too. This goes for not only the main discography page, but also the subpages as well.
Additionally, I think it would also be useful to have the next/last hyperlink feature found on the specific studio albums and demos navigation bars added to singles/EPs to reduce the number of clicks back/forth. --Philimusprime (talk) 20:28, 11 February 2021 (EST)
