Jordan Katz is a Los Angeles-based musician and composer, primarily known for his trumpet and banjo playing.

In November 2024, Katz briefly became a member of They Might Be Giants, subbing in on trumpet for the Tricerachops Horns during TMBG's UK tour, in place of Mark Pender while he performed with the E Street Band.

Katz is musical director for comedian Paul F. Tompkins' touring Varietopia show, which has occasionally featured other members of the Tricerachops Horns and covered TMBG songs live. He is also a member of the Middle Aged Dad Jam Band, which featured John Flansburgh covering "Born to Run" by Bruce Springsteen during an October 2023 show in New York City.[1]

In the early 2000s, Katz played with the band Common Rotation who opened for and collaborated with TMBG throughout the early 2000s, and covered several TMBG songs. Katz is known for his collaborations with other artists, including Indigo Girls and De La Soul, and his contributions to film and television.[2] Katz has also played trumpet for notable fan Open Mike Eagle in his 2018 appearance on NPR's Tiny Desk Concert series, as well as at Varietopia shows.[3]
