Falsifiability
The lines "if it's possible to prove it wrong" and "show what would happen if you were incorrect" are planting an Easter egg for the future scientists to discover. Linnell is defining Karl Popper's idea that a theory can only be called scientific if it is falsifiable. Since he introduced it last century, Popper's idea has pretty much become the go-to rule of thumb for differentiating scientific vs. non-scientific knowledge, and is an inescapable part of discussions of the "modern philosophy of science". --Nehushtan (talk) 17:01, 27 April 2020 (EDT)
